What’s my story?

Hey there, I’m Caela Gray!

As a young woman with an introspective disposition, a mind full of questions about the intricate ways people experience life, and a heart longing to cultivate deep connections, shuffling through my days in a state of numbness because “that’s just the way things are” never set right with me.

In 2019 I enrolled in coach training through iPEC (the Institute for Professional Excellence in Coaching), and in 2020, I officially became a Certified Professional Coach. Additionally, I am a credentialed Energy Leadership Index Master Practitioner (ELI-MP), able to use high-level assessment tools that provide tangible, research-backed ROI data about seemingly intangible concepts like energy, mindset, and satisfaction for any coaching relationship.

Working with people who are in career transition, who want to stay awake and aware in the face of hardship, and who want to explore what constitutes their identity, is a privilege. Our interests, gifts, and dreams are unique to each of us, and I’m here to tell you there is not one road to passion, fulfillment, and inspiration.

One last thing!

You might be wondering, where does the name In the Gray come from and what does it mean? Besides liking my last name, I wanted to emphasize something that has been a life-changing realization in both my personal life and coach training.

Absolute thinking left me feeling drained, frustrated, confused, and alone.

Cue thoughts like:

“If I don’t succeed, I’m a failure.”

“I have to find the perfect job/career/community or I’ll never be happy.”

“[insert minor inconvenience] Great, now my whole day is ruined!”

“There’s only one way to achieve _____”

“I don’t have X number of friends/opportunities/financial funds/life experiences/etc, something must be wrong with me.”

“Things will never get better.”

I realized I was robbing myself not just of balance, but of the freedom to fully experience relationships and opportunities, to learn and grow.

Breaking free from rigid labels and embracing our messy, unpredictable, non-dualistic reality isn’t easy, but it is a first step towards self-acceptance.

Recognizing the type of restricted thinking that kept me stuck, held me back, and prevented me from seeing the endless opportunities and gifts in life, led me to loving empowerment.

Embracing the gray areas in life and in myself transformed the way I exist in this world. You can stop forcing your complex, unique, imperfectly inspiring Self to fit in to boxes meant for robots.

By the way,

When we start exploring your Self together, even if you come with a specific reason (like, “I hate my current job and want to start a business”), by the end of our time together you’ll have been coached on your entire life. I’m not about unsustainable, quick-fixes! A road-block in one area of your life is impacting you in every other area, whether you’re aware of it or not. I’m interested in helping people deeply know themselves, so that by knowing what they need to feel full in life, they can confidently go after what they do want.
